National Eye Health Week is underway! This year, it runs from 23 to 29 September and is filled with activities that promote the importance of good eye health and the need for regular sight tests for all.
As a founding partner in the annual awareness-raising event, The College of Optometrists is playing an active role.
On Tuesday 24 September College Clinical Adviser, Dr Paramdeep Bilkhu, takes part in a webinar organised by the Older Drivers Forum and hosted by one-time Blue Peter presenter, Valerie Singleton. The College is playing a vital role in ensuring our roads become safer for all drivers, including those who still drive in their older years, and Paramdeep will be answering questions from online participants.
Paramdeep also features in this year’s Vista magazine, where he explains what patients can expect at a routine sight test and what to take along to the appointment.
Every day this week, a new audio clip featuring our Clinical Advisers will be added reflecting the week’s themes so make sure to check back regularly.
College Clinical Adviser Denise Voon also guests on the NEHW podcast, chatting with other eye health professionals.
Readers of national newspaper, the Guardian will have a free supplement in their paper on Thursday 26 September, all about eye health and specially produced for NEHW. Called Vision and Eye Health, the publication can also be seen online and features expert comment from College Clinical Adviser, Dr Paramdeep Bilkhu.
