Ben’s Breast Cure – TV star Ben Fogle treats eye infection with sister-in-law’s breast milk and shares results on Twitter

This week, Ben Fogle tweeted about using breast milk to treat an eye infection.

Daniel Hardiman-McCartney MCOptom, Clinical Adviser at the College urges readers not to follow Ben’s lead: “I would strongly advise against using breast milk for anything other than feeding babies.  There is no evidence about whether it works or whether it is safe in treating eye infections. If it is not stored correctly or becomes contaminated it could result in harm. Its use for anything other than breastfeeding should be discouraged.”
